Screen
Printing
Modern
printing technology with a long tradition
Their
historical origins of the
screen-printing technology
were
in the East Asian region. In
particular
China
and Japan, the template technique was used centuries ago for the
printing of
textile
fabrics. The
industrial use of screen printing occurred in 1900. Because
of their
versatility
the press-through-technic always was
developed and refined. Because
the
procedure
is suitable for almost all materials (for
example
paper, cardboard, plastic, wood,
glass,
tin,
metal), today there are numerous potential applications of screen
printing.
Here´s how:
In
the printing machine, the
printable part
is located directly under
the
printing
plate, a porous mesh, streched
on a metal frame.
The
stencil will be put on the
tissue applied
typically by illumination.
The
printed image is open, only
here the screen
is permeable.
The
color
is pressed through
the screen by a rubber
squeegee , now the
image
is shown on the product.
Once the
screen is lifted, the
product
will
be removed out
of the printing device.
